General Mills is seeking a Training and Documentation Project Lead to develop work plans and oversee / develop training materials and documentation for business-reaching IS applications including SAP, BI and other key applications. This individual will also provide internal consultation on developing creative learning solutions utilizing instructional design and adult learning principles.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with department project leads and business teams to develop creative learning solutions, including change management, documentation and training content and delivery options.
  • Develop training and documentation solutions based on instructional design methodology and adult learning principles, utilizing various blended learning techniques including, e-learning, video-conferencing, webinars, and virtual and traditional classroom delivery.
  • Create work plans for the training and documentation component of business-reaching IS applications, overseeing and/or developing the creation of all required materials to insure an effective training outcome.
  • Direct the work of cross functional teams and peers, prioritizing tasks through completion and delivering results on time, regularly reporting status to project team, peers and management.
  • Analyze and evaluate new training and documentation technologies to augment current options, insuring adherence to General Mills guidelines.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 7 – 10 years’ experience in a similar role 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Instructional Design degree strongly desired

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • 7+ years’ experience leading large training and documentation projects for integrated systems, warehousing systems and reporting systems
  • 7+ years’ experience writing business-reaching training materials and documentation using and where necessary enhancing pre-defined standards and templates
  • Expert knowledge in recommending and developing blended learning solutions including expertise in creating storyboards for e-learning solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft standard desktop software, including Word, Visio, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience developing learning solutions using Captivate, Camtasia or Articulate software preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP and General Mills business processes preferred
  • Champions the development and use of training and documentation technologies and tools, standards and best practices

Sr. Patent Counsel

General Mills has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Patent Attorney to join our Legal team!

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role you will:

  • Advise clients and negotiating and preparing documents for technology licenses, joint ventures, joint R&D collaborations and other similar transactions
  • Prepare US and International patent applications
  • Prosecute US and foreign patent applications
  • Prepare product clearance and infringement / validity opinions
  • Advise clients and conducting patent/trade secret due diligence for acquisitions/divestitures
  • Provide legal advice to clients on issues related to patent strategy, patent portfolio generation, technology acquisition and divestiture and other related patent / trade
    secret issues.
  • Partner with the Innovation, Technology and Quality (R&D) functions in meeting strategic business objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctorate with 10 – 15 + years’ professional experience at a law firm and/or corporate law department practicing in the areas of patent drafting / prosecution, advising clients and negotiating and drafting technology agreements
  • Previous experience in food and/or food packaging patent drafting, prosecution and transactional work
  • A technical background or undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (particularly Chemical Engineering) or Food Science

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Management and supervision of junior lawyers, paralegals and/or legal assistants desired, but not required

REQUIRED JOB COMPETENCIES

  • Superior academic accomplishment
  • Admission in good standing to the practice of law in at least one state and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office

General Mills is seeking a “White Hat” to recommend improved network security practices and adjustments to security requirements by performing Internet penetration, vulnerability assessments, and IT audits.  This individual will provide IT security technology maintenance and ongoing design, implementation and configuration, as necessary, in support of corporate security policies, standards, and objectives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will:

  • Evaluate, design, install and provide ongoing support for Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention, Content Filtering, Remote Access (IPSec/SSL/Direct Access), Domain Name Management, Endpoint Protection for desktop and server, and more.
  • Manage the security infrastructure at all remote Internet hub locations; UK, India, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia and Argentina; support GIS in managing and securing the global General Mills network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical leadership for projects in security design, network design and research and development for future services.
  • Manage small, medium and large security projects and technology deployments.
  • Conduct R&D on security infrastructures, applications and trends.
  • Review, critique and provide best practices for internal and vendor improvements to network security hardware and software.
  • Participate in 1/8 on-call support coverage and periodic off-hour network upgrades

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, CIS (Computer Information Systems), Computer Science, MIS (Management Information Systems), or similar
  • 5+ years’ experience in an IT Security-related role.
  • Solid white hat hacking knowledge with an understanding of black hat tactics

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years’ experience in a Security-related role
  • CISSP, SSCP or GCFA, GCFE, GISP, GSLC, or GSNA certification(s) preferred
  • Prior experience performing computer forensics and e-discovery

Sr. Counsel – Latin America / South Africa

Based at General Mills’ headquarters in Minneapolis, MN, the Senior Counsel, Latin America / South Africa (LASA) will be responsible for all legal matters impacting the General Mills business in the LASA region. The individual in this role will be a key member of the LASA leadership team. As part of the International Legal Team and as the Regional lead for legal matters, the successful candidate will be a valued commercial partner to the business as well as provide legal support and advice to the General Mills LASA business groups in their commercial and business development activities.

The International Division has net sales of more than US$2.5 billion and products are sold in over 130 countries worldwide. The division is a key driver of growth for the company and has enjoyed sharp increases in overall profitability and sales in the last few years. The company has over 30 offices and 20 manufacturing facilities internationally.

General Mills’ history in Latin America goes back more than 75 years when the company first exported flour to the region. Today, the Latin America and South Africa (LASA) region accounts for nearly 20 percent of the International Division’s sales. Key brands in LASA include Häagen-Dazs, Pillsbury, Nature Valley, and Betty Crocker, as well as local favorites such as Diablitos in Venezuela and La Saltena in Argentina.

Key priorities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Lead a high performing legal function. Overall, this individual will continue to establish a strong reputation for the legal function across the region, such that there is greater visibility, awareness and sensitivity to the need for compliance and legal consideration. Critical aspects of the function will include:

Ø Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including licensing, manufacturing, marketing, distribution and franchise agreements.

Ø Providing legal advice regarding food labeling/composition, marketing, promotions, social media and websites, as well as providing legal advice and compliance training in all commercial areas (such as contract use and interpretation, competition law, food and marketing regulation, FCPA, ethics and compliance, privacy and other customer or third party claims).

Ø Acting in a role requiring a high level of autonomy and personal responsibility, while also acting as a team player with the ability to assist colleagues in International Legal and liaise with US Law Dept. Centers of Excellence, (including Trademarks, Patents and Employment/HR). Retaining, directing, instructing and supervising external counsel and other professional advisors as required in connection with commercial, regulatory and litigation activities, and set and keep budgets.

Ø Coordinating and managing all legal proceedings brought against the company or pursuant to indemnification obligations, retain counsel, participate in settlement arrangements.

Ø Participating as a member of the International Legal Team in International Division activities, including projects aimed at streamlining processes, coordinating training and development for legal teams as well as businesses, sharing best practices, and preparing and updating template forms of agreements.

• Partner with the executive team to drive the overall business. The Senior Counsel must work closely with the LASA leadership team to contribute to improving overall business results. He/she must think broadly, beyond his/her functional area of expertise, as an integral member of the executive team. Contribution to the business will be underpinned by high levels of commercial acumen, creativity and proactive partnership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A good academic record, qualified to practice as a lawyer in any jurisdiction in the United States
• 10+ years’ experience in either a major law firm or as part of an in-house legal department of a multi-national company

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience gained from the consumer goods industry is advantageous but not essential
• Proven and extensive experience in commercial law, and excellent grounding in contract law, preferably in International, and Latin America in particular
• Working knowledge of regulatory, competition, and trade law issues preferred
• Prior knowledge of food, employment and intellectual property law not essential but must be willing to learn
• Fluency (written and verbal) in English required and in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
